Advice Lewisham. Expected to be closed 24th to 3rd January inclusive.

Social services Gateway. Open till 4pm on Xmas eve, 28th and 31st.  On other dates staffed by Emergency Duty Team.

Rushey Green Pharmacy, Primary Care Centre, Hawstead Road, SE6 4JH, 020 7138 1790) is open Xmas Day 10am-6pm, 26th Dec 5.30- 8.30pm,1st Jan 10am-2pm

Community Connections Lewisham. Open till 4pm on Xmas eve and re-opens on 4th January.

Voluntary Services Lewisham. Office is closed from the 24th December to 3rd January inclusive

Silver Line Phone Line. The Silver Line Helpline offers conversation and is open 365 days a year 24 hours  – 0800 4 70 80 90

Department for Work and Pensions.  Closed from 25th and open 30th and 31st .

Children & Young People

For children and young people, there is a free Winter Holiday Activity Programme providing food and fun all over the borough. Free activities and lunches for school-aged children and young people (aged 5–16 years – up to 19 for children/young people with SEND) eligible for and in receipt of benefit related Free School Meals. Free Christmas Meals 

These community organisations and businesses offer a free meal or food support for people who might be spending Christmas on their own, or who may be struggling financially and in need of emergency food provision. Details may be subject to change so please contact the project directly for more information.

Christmas Day

All Saints Church on 105 New Cross Road, SE14 5DJ. All Saints Church is providing a Christmas Meal on Christmas Day 12-6pm. 020 7639 2889.

Catford Soup Kitchen (UCKG Soup Kitchen) The Catford Soup Kitchen will be open and providing a takeaway lunch on Saturday 25th of December 12-2pm and Saturday 1st of January. Contact 0208 6983612 or email at outreach@uckg.org to find out more information

Cummin’ Up Restaurant & Take-away on 389 Lewisham High Street, SE13 6NZ are open on Christmas Day – 25 December 2021 from 1pm to 6pm. Richard Simpson and his family will cook traditional British Christmas Day fare (even Brussels sprouts!), plus jerk chicken, rice and peas and mixed salad.

Eat of Eden 1 GoldCrest House, 32-64 Lee High Rd, Se13 5FH, 12-2pm offering a free hot vegan meal to anyone in need.

Lewisham Islamic Centre 363 – 365 Lewisham High Street, Lewisham, London, SE13 6NZ. Christmas Day Lewisham Islamic Centre will be providing soup between 4-6pm as usual.

Around Christmas

ChART Food Project Every Wednesday (including December 22nd and 29th and January 5th) from 10.30am – 11.30am at WG Grace Community Centre, 1 Lions Close, Grove Park SE9 4HG.  Come and have a cup of tea with our friendly team of volunteers and choose from a selection of essentials to stock your cupboards for a couple of days.  Deliveries are available to residents on the Chinbrook and Grove Park Estates unable to come to us.  Please contact paul@chartbiglocal.org.uk or call 07455 213291.

Ichthus Community Table At Ichthus Lee Green will be open on Friday 24th December, Christmas Eve for a Christmas dinner meal 1.30-3.30pm. St Saviour’s Church, Brockley Rise On 21st December, a traditional Christmas Lunch will be served at St Saviour’s Church, Brockley Rise. Voluntary Services Lewisham Voluntary Services Lewisham together with the Lewisham Salvation Army will be giving out a limited number of reheatable meals on the 23rd December to those most in need (maximum of two per household).

Boxing Day

The Hill Station, Kitto Road, SE14 5TY, 10am to about 4pm.  

Feeling the let-down after Christmas?  Come along and bring any unopened excess items you have to share (C-19 modification – we can’t take leftovers!), or just bring yourself—we would value your company…. 

We have a piano: bring your music, a guitar or a flute. We will be playing Mahjong: bring any other games. We will have some books donated for the new year charity book sale: bring a bit of cash in case any take your fancy.

There will be hot drinks, biscuits, hand-sanitiser, disinfectant wipes and socially-distanced human contact.  All Welcome and All Free. Close to the 343 and 484 buses and Brockley and Nunhead Stations. Unrestricted parking.

Food Banks and Projects

Kath’s Place Community Hub. 50 Friendly Street, Deptford, SE8 4DR. We Care Foodbank will be open Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th (10am-4pm) Closed 25th, 25th and New Year’s Day otherwise we are open every Wed-Sat as usual (10-4pm).  We offer a social pantry at Kath’s Place Community Hub (part of the Kath Dugan Equality & Civil Rights Network) where members pay £5 for shopping worth around £40 as well as a foodbank (referral only), baby bank (free to use) and store. 07871 187 162 – text only and we will call back.

Lewisham Foodbank Lewisham Foodbank, will be open for pickup on 23rd December. The Food bank will reopen on the 4th of January. Email info@lewisham.foodbank.org.uk for more information. 

LWCC Food Service Honor Oak Community Centre, 50 Turnham Road, Brockley SE4  2JD. Open Wednesday 22nd 5.30-7.30pm then closed until the end of January.

Rehoboth Community Outreach Ray Champion Room, 1-18 Allwood Close, Sydenham, SE26 4JP -Saturday Dec 18th giving out children winter Jackets age 6 – 14 yrs and food provisions.  -Monday Dec 20th Christmas dinner & presents, Christmas Eve Dec 24th 6pm – 8pm giving out food provisions. Closed from the 25th until Monday January 10, 2022

St. Peter’s Brockley Food Bank & Social Supermarket, Wickham Road, Brockley, SE4 1LT. Open Wednesday 22nd December, 12-3 pm and will be giving out Christmas meal hampers to be able to make a roast chicken dinnerwith all the trimmings.

Whitefoot and Downham Food Project – Thursday 23rd December

Hope Church, 480 Whitefoot Lane Downham, BR1 5SF. Open Thursday 23rd 7.30-9pm for those living in the Whitefoot and Downham area. You can just turn up. Closed on the 30th December, extra food given on the 23rd to cover the holidays.

Food to You (A paid shopping service) running a normal service on the week of 20th and 3rd (except asking customers to prepare 2 weeks’ worth of shopping lists). Week of 27th we will be delivering to all clients on the 29th.

Lewisham Healthy Walks. Tues 28th Dec: Beckenham Place Park at 9.45am / Forster Memorial Park from Goldsmiths Community Centre at 10.30am / Sydenham Wells Park at 11am. Thurs 30th Dec: Horniman Gardens at 11am / Crystal Palace Park from St Christophers Hospice at 1.30pm. Sun 2nd Jan: Family Mindfulness walk at Beckenham Place Park at 9.45am.
