Christmas Engineering Works

From Monday 27 December to Monday 3 January 2022 inclusive, there will be some changes to train services through the Lewisham area, as Network Rail engineers use this time to upgrade the track and signals.

We have chosen the festive season to carry out this £8million upgrade as typically fewer passengers travel between Christmas and New Year.

As you may already know, more than half of all Southeastern train services travel through Lewisham station. If there are issues there, the rest of the network can be affected, resulting in frustrating disruption to journeys. Find out more at www.networkrail.co.uk/Lewisham

We will also be carrying out other work across the Kent route including stabilising a railway cutting near Swanley and renewing wheel timbers in the central London area.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead if intending to travel over the festive season.

Travel information, including details of rail replacement bus services is currently available at: https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/travel-information/live-travel-information/christmas-and-new-year-services. Please do share this information through your networks.

We would also like to take this opportunity to make you aware of work taking place in the Tonbridge area from the new year. Our engineers will be renewing the ‘switches and crosses’ (the moveable sections of track that guide trains from one track to another and allow them to cross paths) as they have a limited lifespan due to wear and tear from heavy trains.

This means changes to services on the following dates:
Sunday 16 January 2022: replacement bus service between Tonbridge and Ashford, changing at Headcorn and from Tonbridge to Maidstone West via Paddock Wood

Saturday 22 January and Sunday 23 January 2022: replacement bus service between Tonbridge and Paddock Wood / Tonbridge and Wadhurst

Sunday 30 January 2022: Replacement bus service between Tonbridge and Paddock Wood)
There will also be several single and weekend days affected through March, April and May – further detail will be provided closer to the time.

Kind Regards and Merry Christmas!
