Learn how to become a cookery club tutor

The Open College Network is running an accredited Healthy Eating and Running a Cookery club course starting on Friday 10th January 10am – 1pm for 12 weeks at Lewisham College.

This 12-week course (3 hours each week ), accredited Level 2, trains you up to become a cookery club tutor and covers the essential elements of running a healthy eating cookery club.

It is available to anyone who lives, works, studies or volunteers in Lewisham only. This is a practical course for those wanting to run cookery clubs, but please note this is not a cooking course – it teaches the theory of running a club.

The course consists of 2 units, the first is all about healthy eating messages, and the second covers the practical elements of running a club including risk assessments, working with groups, managing challenging participants and the wider factors that affect someone’s food choice

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to set up a community cookery club for their community group or organisation or wants to volunteer to support this type of activity.

Each week there will be assessments that need to be completed at home – learners should allow about 1 hour a week to complete this.
