Healthy Habits Project: Men’s Health, Diabetes & Healthy Recipes.

Mens Health_talkMen..don’t be the one in five!

One man in five men will die before he’s old enough to retire.  Men are less likely to lead a healthy lifestyle, more likely to smoke, drink alcohol to hazardous levels and be overweight.  These can lead to cancer, heart diseases and stroke.  How do you reduce the risk?  Men bring your friends, sons, nephews; women bring your men to find out how at this free event.

3.9 million people live with diabetes in the UK.

Being overweight is a common problem, affecting around 1 in 4 adults and around 1 in 5 children aged 10 to 11 in the UK and can lead to serious and potentially life-threatening conditions.

Diabetes affects many people regardless of their weight.  People with diabetes can lead healthy active lives and those at risk with a family history of diabetes can prevent it.  Get the facts and tips at this free event.

Caribbean Recipes with a Healthy Twist

A few people have tasted the healthy options Caribbean served at our events AND asked for the recipes.  As promised below are 2 links to two recipe books: one for Caribbean meals and the other for South Asian meals.  They are all low in sugar, salt and fat so can be enjoyed guilt free.  We would love to see the pictures of the meals you make using the recipes.  Join us on the Healthy Habits facebook page and upload the pictures there – we will create a gallery.

The books can be downloaded onto your laptop, phone or tablet.  If you would like a printed copy they are available free from the British Heart Foundation if you give them a call.
