Campaign for a Railway Bridge Mural underway

Inspired  by the ‘Herne Hill’ railway bridge mural, Hither Green residents have come together to explore the possibility  of a similar mural on the Ennersdale Road bridge. It was the coming of the railway which transformed Hither Green from a sleepy series of farms to busy suburban dormitory town and the Victorian style  railway nameplate celebrates this history as well as demarcating east-west Hither Green.

Caroline  and Nikki  are the duo behind the project and after an amazing response at the Hither Green Fayre on Saturday, fundraising for the mural is already well on the way with our fundraising.
Artists Lionel Stanhope and Zara Gaze are on board to create the mural for us and Network Rail have given permission for the work to take place..
