7 Councillors attended Tuesday’s Strategic Committee Meeting.
They listened to planning officers, St Modwen and community objectors to the plans.
At the end of the meeting the plans were approved with councillors voting as follows.
Cllr Amanda De Ryk (Blackheath) – approve
Cllr Kevin Bonavia (Blackheath) – approve
Cllr Joan Reid (Lewisham Central) – approve
Cllr John Paschoud (Perry Vale) – approve
Cllr Abdeslam Amrani (Catford South)- approve
Cllr Paul Bell (Telegraph Hill) – abstain
Cllr John Coughlin (Brockley) – oppose
The approval is contingent on the committee meeting one last time to consider final public realm and arcade details. There remains the slight possibility that they will refuse the plans at that stage.
If anyone lives close to or in Leegate and feels they will be particularly badly affected by the increased exposure to air pollution, and would be interested in challenging the planning decision, please contact us.

Thank you for all your support over the past two years and your help in our efforts to propose a suitable redevelopment plan for our district hub.
All very best wishes
