Congratulations to Elisabeth and Jane, the formidable duo behind the Prefab Museum project. The Prefab Museum has just won Heritage Lottery Fund support! The funding ensures they can continue dePrefab_Blanchetveloping the national prefab archive, organising prefab events and celebrating prefab life!
Elisabeth and Jane have carried on working despite major setbacks (if you recall just a few weeks after a triumphant opening, some lovely person tried to burn down the original museum and exhibits, which eventually led to its closure. )

The duo have interviewed current and former residents and helped protect 6 of the most intact prefabs when Lewisham finally got the go ahead to tear the Excalibur estate down. Beyond Downham, Elizabeth and Jane have carried out guided tours of prefabs in Downham, Nunhead and Brockley, they made national news documenting post war prefab sites in Liverpool and Elizabeth had her book published last year.
