Remember last year when we all got excited about Hither Green Station being awarded a share of the national Access for All Station improvement programme? Hither Green Station was to get shiny new lifts and cross walks, perhaps a redesign of the existing (but overly steep) platform ramps. Then it all went quiet.
A year on and Elon Musk has successfully launched and retrieved a reusable space rocket and the US and Cuba have reached a peaceful détente. But in Hither Green parents are still carrying pushchairs up flights of steps from platform 3 to 5 and back again. Not a brick has been moved there is no shiny lift and no extra ramps.
Apparently our share of the Access for All station redevelopment money is under threat. Heidi Alexander MP was pivotal in getting the Dept for Transport pledge in the first instance has launched a petition to put pressure on the Transport Minister.
