HGCA Green Volunteering Programme

The Hither Green Community Association runs its own environmental activities programme- providing fun opportunities for local people to meet and to improve our green spaces.

Hither Green residents are invited to come along and volunteer to improve our community.

Springbank Road Embankment–Conservation of the Hither Green Station woodlands.

• We’re improving the diversity of tree species by dreds of sycamore saplings.planting several hundred young broad leaved and fruiting tree species. This will eventually lead to the increase of wildlife biodiversity as the broader range of trees will be a habitat for a greater variety of native invertebrates and small mammals

• We coppice some of the mature sycamore trees and thin out the hun

The Fernbrook Road Meadow Project

We’re working with the Kew Gardens ‘Grow Wild’ Project, Friends of The Earth and Streetscape, award winning landscape designers. In autumn 2015, Streetscape rotovated  the flat areas of the Fernbrook embankment at Hither Green Station entrance.

The next event will be on Spring 2016. Date to be arranged.
