Hither Green has wonderful green spaces with rivers, hills, trees and meadows- but many children can’t tell an oak tree from a birch, crucially few children spend as much time outdoors as their parents did as children.
Go out and explore this summer-There is easy river wading in Manor Park, spend a Sunday discovering the underground Ice House in Manor House Gardens and tumbling down the slopes at Mountsfield Park is a local rite of passage.
This summer the Rivers and People project, together with the award winning Creekside Trust are running a series of child/ family events in other Lewisham green spaces.
