Councillor Damien Egan has issued invitation to a consultation event on Thursday 22nd January 2015  to help shape Lewisham’s response to the housing crisis and set the Councils’s housing strategy for the next five years.

The evening will be an opportunity to meet with local councillors, housing professionals and community organisations from across Lewisham and will comprise of an introduction followed by facilitated discussion in groups.

Topics for group discussion are:

1. New build and regeneration – where and how to build and fund the much needed new homes?
2. Private Renting – How do we make the private rented sector work for Lewisham residents?
3. Housing Affordability  – Is this a problem for all tenures? What can we do about it?
4. Housing tenures – is a mixed approach still valid? Who is social and affordable housing for?
5. Homelessness and temporary accommodation – how can we best address acute housing need?
6. Housing conditions and standards – where do we need to focus our energies most?
7. Right to Buy – What do you think of the discount on offer? Should there be restrictions on how Councils use the receipts?
