This Sunday 17 August you can enjoy a wonderful evening of music at St Swithun’s Church in Hither Green.
The event will kick start the fundraising for The Big Swim 2014.
On 7 September Yvonne, a Hither Green resident will be taking part in a fund raising swim from the Isle of Wight to Bournemouth in aid of the Royal Society of Musicians.
They helped me 12 years ago without which I wouldn’t be here today.
Intrepid Vonni will be joined by her equally adventurous friends Dan and Neil, they will be accompanied by Kayak support and two safety vessels.
We wish them all the luck in the world with their adventure and hope the weather and the sea are kind!
The Gala will also be a wonderful welcome of the full Auriga Ensemble to Hither Green, as they will now be ‘Ensemble in Residence’ at St Swithun’s .
The repertoire will be perfect for a late summer evening:
Brahms String Sextet in b flat op18, Strauss Capriccio for sextet,
Songs from West Side Story, Sunset Boulevard, Phantom of the Opera,
Some spoken word and drama,
Plus a bar, cakes and strawberries.
Drinks from 6pm and music from 7.
