Children’s Teddy Bears Picnic @ St Swithun’s Church Hall & Garden.
  • Teddy Bears and picnic blankets with free soft drinks and snacks for the children
  • Treasure Hunt with small prizes
  • Meet the Bees with Alan Foster – local beekeeper and honey producer
  • Seed planting & Gardening Session – With help from Jenni the Church Gardener, Lewisham Gardens and Lewisham Friends of the Earth. Children can plant seeds and take them home.
  • Children’s Entertainment – Singlong Sally will run a get up and dance session and there will be a Puppet show from a local puppeteer.
  • Animated Short Films in hall if weather is bad (Winnie the Pooh and/or Hedgehog in the Fog)
  • NB – Church Garden is also part of Open Gardens

Choral Evensong
Festal Choral Evensong for the opening of the 2014 Hither Green Festival WeekSung by the Hither Green Community Choir Directed by Phillip Bell and joined by the Cats Choir – Directed by Mairead Sheerin.The beautiful ancient service of Choral Evensong with music from the plainsong of the Monks through to Handel, Vaughan Williams and the popular Cambridge composer John Rutter.The service includes the regal setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in D minor by Thomas Attwood Walmisley, celebrating his 200th birthday this year!Enjoy the beauty of St Swithuns church with centuries of wonderful religious music.
