South East London Community Energy are an award-winning, SE London-based community group, committed to supporting people cannot afford to adequately heat their homes. Their team can provide FREE, IMPARTIAL support to Lewisham residents on a low income to make their homes more energy efficient, get grants and discounts and explain how they could pay less for their electricity and gas. It is difficult for their team to reach those who most need their help so they are looking for invitations to existing coffee morning or social event to provide some 1-1 advice or a workshop as described below. Please do get in contact if you think they can help your group or neighbours.
As you probably know, cold homes cost lives: very winter in the UK 25,000 – 40000 people die of issues related to the cold. At least 1 in 10 people in SE London cannot afford to heat their home – they are left with a choice between the cold or crippling debt. The irony is that the most vulnerable people on low incomes pay MORE for their energy.
