Hither Green has a grand tradition of scouting going back decades and there are three busy local packs.
HELP! Two local packs are looking for fresh new volunteers. The 25th Lewisham North (based at St Swithun’s on Hither Green Lane) and 20th Lewisham South (based at Brownhill Road Baptist Church ) both desperately need new volunteers to help them continue delivering great adventures to local young people.
Volunteers don’t need to be survival experts; you dont need to be a supernanny or a walking encyclopaedia either. Everyone has something to offer, from sharing a favourite hobby to demonstrating a new game to teaching young people how to cook your favourite meal! You need the enthusiasm to learn, be part of the session and have fun! Take a look at the their Facebook Page to to see what they’ve been up to recently.
What you can expect: A typical weekly meeting will involve a game or two, then work on a badge which might involve cooking, experiments, debating, crafts, sports, DIY, drama, team building…. Leaders and children also love to get out and about – recently they’ve been camping, paint balling, caving, kayaking, horse riding, climbing, all sorts!
If you think this sounds like fun, come along and try it out – there’s no pressure to commit, just come and see if you like what they do. )
The 25th meets at St Swithun’s on Friday nights,
The 20th meets at Brownhill Road Baptist Church on Tuesdays.
Requirements: New volunteers have to be over 14 years old and DBS checks will be carried out and the costs borne by The Scouts.
