All the awesome activities to make September Super Exciting!

The Corbett Library have laid on a super month of activities including being a host venue for the Catford Arts Trail. Also keep your eyes peeled for all the new classes and activities returning from the summer – and a chance to help make October at the Library an amazing Black History Month 2017!

The Catford Art Trail is in its second year – and is a fantastic opportunity to see inside the homes and studios of our community’s own artists and craftspeople. This year the event takes place over the weekends of  23rd/24th and 30th Sept/1st Oct. As well as hosting local artists, the Library will be showcasing some interactive crafts, happenings and educational displays…

Adult Learning Lewisham will be showcasing some of its best work – and giving you a chance to see what you could achieve in one of their courses. They will be focusing on arts and crafts like:

  • Glasswork
  • Jewellery
  • Printmaking
  • .Cookery skills too!

Magic Mosaics: The amazing Tamara Froud, (who has designed and made mosaics for many communities – including our local ‘A Frog’s Life’ mosaic at the Healthy Lifestyle Centre) is working with the Library to raise money for a mosaic to decorate the Sandhurst Road side of our Library. If it goes ahead we would love for you to help create it – so pop in during the Arts Trail and… Meet Tamara and see her cool designs Add your own thoughts and ideas.

Knitting a Yarn Bomb! …Yarn Bombing takes ordinary street fixtures, like trees, lampposts, bike racks etc. and decorates with impromptu knitting! Get involved in a knitting event we’ve been planning for some time – bring your own knitting join in with the Knitting team.  Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for more info on how to take part.

For younger visitors there will also be a Cat’s Tail Trail of hidden kittens – find all the furry felines to discover the name of our Library Cat!
