Lewisham Central Assembly Mission Statement

The Lewisham Central Assembly funding is now open for groups and organisation who can deliver projects which improve the Lewisham Central area. We hope to involve people from all parts of the ward while working to help people of all ages and backgrounds to achieve their aspirations and overcome any disadvantage.
The main purpose of the assembly grant is to assist the Assembly to deliver priorities listed in its Action Plan. As such, all funding proposals must show how the project they are proposing meets one or more of the priorities listed below.
The Priorities for Lewisham Central has been identified as the Following:
- Improving health and wellbeing:
This priority will focus on supporting the development of community projects which provides opportunities to socialise over a shared activities or interest to promote mental health and well-being.
- A Cleaner, Better, Environment
This refers to issues that affects how you feel about air pollution, the general appearance of your area, litter and fly tipping, dog mess and street lighting. Streetscape includes, condition of streets, pavements, roads and parking.
- Better access to activities and facilities for children and young people
This priority will focus on the development of better coordination of facilities already in existence to provide activities that develop children and young people’s interest and potentials.
- Better access to activities and opportunities for the elderly
This priority will support older people in the community to access various activities borough-wide help them remain active, healthy and to help reduce isolation.
- Promoting and improving community cohesion
This priority will focus around supporting activities that promotes community coming together, fostering better relationships throughout the ward and developing a greater sense of pride in the area.
How much is available?
There is £12,500 available to apply from. In addition a Locality Fund of £2,500 known as the Councillor Discretionary fund is also available for community activities or projects of a one-off nature. Projects proposed for the £2,500 grant does not need to adhere to one of the Assembly priorities, but must benefit or enhance local community. The Lewisham Central Councillors – Stella Jeffrey, Joani Reid and Damien Egan – have agreed that this discretionary fund should also be voted on by the Assembly.
- The Assembly fund cannot be spent on activities that requires ongoing revenue
- To fund activities that promotes religious and political party views
- To fund activities or projects that have already taken place

The Closing dates for all bids is Friday 1stSeptember 2017.
