Schubert’s Mass in E Flat was his sixth setting of the Mass, written shortly before his untimely death and was never performed in his lifetime. It is a powerful work of many contrasts: in turns peaceful, mysterious, dramatic and exhilarating, and of course, as we would expect from Schubert, always richly lyrical.

His Offertorium is a delightful little gem, with a tenor soloist soaring above the choir, while the orchestra provides a sparkling accompaniment, and on this occasion we are joined by the excellent Forest Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mozart’s glorious Piano Concerto in C is nowadays often dubbed the ‘Elvira Madigan’ following its use in the soundtrack of the film of that name. This beautiful concerto rightly remains one of Mozart’s most-loved works and LCS are looking forward to a fabulous performance of the piece by our Assistant Director of Music Nico de Villiers.
