On Friday 1st July, the top two floors of the old Lewisham Town Hall will be turned over to Small Business Centre to become a co-working hub, offices and open art studios.
The site is currently at the final stage of retro fitting, and freelancers, artists and home workers are actively being sought to fill the not inconsiderable space.
The hub will be known as Dek Catford; the top floor (5th storey) will house freelancers and start ups looking for desk space and access to managed office services. There is room enough for up to 80 people to be on site at any one time.
There are bookable meeting and boardroom spaces, plus large couches for informal meetings; there is also a roof terraced with amazing views out towards Crystal Palace and Brockley.
Dek will operate a rolling monthly membership system rather than issuing leases. Businesses can quit with just a month’s notice. Membership allows access to desk space, PLUS:
- Concierge/ reception service
- Booking Access to boardroom & meeting rooms- for seminars & workshops
- Office services- photocopier, wi-fi, screen projector, dedicated VOIP ( optional).
- a small tea/ coffee area
Access to the building:
Weekdays: 08.00- 20.00
Weekends: 10.00- 7.00
There is no access to onsite parking which is a shame, but you are just 3 minutes from Catford and Catford Bridge train stations and all the buses which serve the town hall. From the hight of the 5th floor, the noise of the south circular melts away.
The Artist work spaces are on the 4th floors; seried ranks of open work ‘cubicles’ will encourage artists who feel isolated at home to interact with fellow creatives. There are also glass fronted offices for rent.
