This Spring, the Lewisham Arts Cafe in Manor Park will be working with local children and the Friends of Manor Park to build a greenhouse! It will be used to grow basil, parsley and other herbs for use in the cafe.
The greenhouse will be built from recycled materials and so before you throw your 2 litre pop bottles into the green bin, do consider dropping them off to Fred and Banu at the cafe! Here is an example of a Plastic_Bottle_Greenhouse.
The local Brownies and Scouts have already signed up to help out with construction, and you are an avid DIYer please get in touch, the cafe would love to hear from you.
Wanted: 2 ltr clear bottles, preferably rinsed and with labels taken off.
Manor Park- Big Tidy Up Day
The ArtsCafe is also inviting local people to help with Their Big Tidy Up Day on 12 March. Enviro Lewisham will be supplying litter pickers for the day. Please bring gloves to protect your hands.
Manor Park Meadow
Meadow mania is spreading! Local people sowed a wildflower meadow at Hither Green Station last autumn and the staff and residents of St Mungo’s Centre have also sown butterfly meadow on their campus. This spring the Artscafe will be working with the Friend Group and Glendale to plant a wildflower meadow in the park.
It is hoped to add the Manor Park meadow to the River of Flowers London meadow map. seedball.co.uk have kindly offered to supply the project with seeds. They are national charity using fun methods to encourage people to grow wildflowers in small spaces. Huge thanks to SEEDBALL!
