Special constables are volunteer police officers who play a pivotal role in the Met. Becoming one gives you the chance to work alongside regular police officers, bring skills and experiences from your day job and give something back to our great city.

Based across each of the 32 London boroughs, Specials wear the same uniform and carry the same powers and responsibilities as regular police officers.

Watch and listen to some of our Specials talk about their experiences and about what it’s like volunteering to police London.
