Hither Green has two Brownie Packs and three Scouts packs. Every week over a hundred girls and boys take part in fun activities designed to improve lifeskills and personal confidence and the numbers of children are growing!
Local brownies and scouts wade through local rivers, make beautiful mosaics, monitor local wildlife and serve this community. The Hither Green Station mosaic, the street planters and the Springbank Road community gardens all look great thanks to Scout and Brownie input.
Help Wanted: The St Swithun’s Brownie Pack and the Brownhill Road Scouts are each looking for volunteers to help with the growing number of young people.
Your Skills! Are you a first aider? Good with numbers or tools? Are you a musician or decent cook? See, you really don’t have to be an adventurer or be able to tie complex knots- it’s about attitude!
Volunteering with the Scouts or Brownies is easy, fun and flexible, how much time you give is completely up to you. Whether you help out once a fortnight, month or term or just at special events or camps, there is a role you can play.
Both Scouts and Brownies will provide proper training and support.
You can really make a difference- helping boys and girls build their teamwork, personal confidence and leadership skills. And a recent study found that over 90% of volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they gained through Guiding and Scouting have been of use to their working or personal lives.
Helpers are vital in enabling the unit to keep running. They help out either on a rota system, or just whenever they can, providing the Leaders with an extra pair of hands.
Get in touch with your chosen Pack and express an interest in helping out. The leaders will take it from there.
All volunteers will be DBS checked.
