Blackheath Halls is delighted to present its ninth community opera. Mozart’s Idomeneo. Idomeneo, King of Crete, returns home from the Trojan wars during a storm. He vows that he will sacrifice to Neptune, God of the Sea, the first person he meets on land if he is delivered safely to Crete. After a safe return he is met first by his son Idamante. How will Idomeneo escape from fulfilling his vow? And who will win the heart of Idamante, Ilia or the jealous Electra?
Come and see how the wonderful professional and community forces of Blackheath Halls Opera tell this classic myth in Mozart’s famous opera.
“In terms of breaking barriers the Blackheath project acheives what many would like to, but rarely can, by putting opera at the heart of the community.”
Simon Thomas; What’s On Stage; July 2014
“The world is simply a better place for such endeavour.”
