Make a Meadow – Session One

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first session of three to transform the area in front of Hither Green Station.

We are working with FUSS at Hither Green, Lewisham Friends of the Earth and the Nature Triangle Group  to prepare the land to sow a wildflower meadow.

  •  Next session Saturday 15 November 2014 at 11am.
  • Meet at Staplehurst Road entrance to the station.

Working together, we cleared land along the fence line and in the middle of the site- tackling , bramble, thistles, and bamboo.

The ground is being prepared for meadow sowing next month!

In total: 14 sacks of commuter rubbish removed- take your litter home people- this is not a pleasant task!

Network Rail: Huge thanks to Mike and the Network Rail Communities team for their support for today and for the last 4 years.
The small railways team which supports community groups and nature reserves working on Network Rail land has been made redundant. This team works nationally,  indeed our guy Mike comes in from Swindon to help us.

The last member of the team leaves their post next week and so we really do appreciate their help to get this new project off the ground before their department goes forever.
Next spring, Hither Green Station will be alive with colour from wildflowers and butterflies!
